“Girl Unknown” de Karen Perry raconte l’histoire de Zoe Barry, une étudiante à l’université locale qui se rapproche de David Connolly, un de ses professeur affirmant qu’il est son père.
Suite à ses affirmations, ils font tous les deux un test ADN afin de connaitre la vérité. Quelques semaines après, les résultats arrivent et confirment qu’elle est bien sa fille. Ensuite, les choses commencent à s’emmêler sans fin et un drame familial prend forme quand David essaye d’intégrer le symbole de son ancienne vie (Zoe Barry) à sa vie actuelle avec sa femme et ses deux enfants. Zoe et sa femme Caroline ne s’entendent pas, par contre Zoe s’entend très bien avec son nouveau petit frère alors que sa nouvelle sœur reste sceptique la concernant. Qui est cette Zoé et que veut-elle de David et sa famille ? Qu’arrive-t-il à David et sa famille maintenant que Zoe essaye de s’y intégrer ?
Ce livre est assez décevant mais, si vous cherchez un livre avec des drames familiaux sans fin, ce livre est pour vous. Si vous recherchez un thriller psychologique, pourquoi ne pas essayer plutôt les livres de B.A. Paris : « Breakdown » ou « Behind Closed Doors » ?

After her claims, the pair do a DNA test to be sure, and sure enough, a few weeks later, the results return, she is in fact his child. Then things start not adding up, and take some unexpected twists and turns, and family drama happens as David tries to blend his old life (his new-found child) into the folds of his current one with his wife and two children. Zoe and his wife, Caroline immediately don't get along, and Zoe hits it off well with her new younger brother, while her new sister is a bit sceptical to her new sister. Who is this Zoe and what does she want from David and his family? What happens to David and his family as Zoe tries to enter into it?
This was mildly disappointing. If you're looking for a book with endless amounts of family drama, this is the book for you. if you're looking for a psychological thriller, why not try B.A. Paris's The Breakdown or Behind Closed Doors instead?
